8U Girls Team Tryouts

Central Ohio Girls Hockey Association is excited to offer our 8U girls the opportunity to play on an all-girls part time team! These teams are for skilled players selected from a competitive tryout. These teams offer additional opportunities to develop individual hockey skills and grow as team players. COGH will roster two 8U teams (depending on interest and number of players) for the 2026-27 hockey season. Teams will play extra games and tournaments in addition to their house hockey schedule and will give the players a taste of the girls team experience!

These teams will be USA Hockey registered teams through our partnership with Columbus Chill Youth Hockey Association (CCYHA). A valid 2026-27 USA Hockey registration number will be required to be on an 8U team.

Ages & Teams

This tryout is open to girls in 2018, 2019, and 2020 birth years.

We expect to form two teams determined by tryout performance. Head coaches for the teams will be named depending on qualified volunteers from each team roster.

Fees

Tryout cost is $25.

Team fees should be approximately $200-250 but will depend on the number of events the team(s) decide to participate in.

Additional fees may be invoiced before the season ends, depending on actual events played.

Practices

Team practices will be scheduled based on ice availability and team budget.

All girls will have the opportunity to try the goalie position. COGH has equipment for goalies to use.

Jerseys

COGH team jerseys and socks will be a purchase separate from team fees.

Games and Tournaments

Teams typically participate in 2-3 tournaments and 4-8 scrimmages/games in addition to their 8U house hockey program through Blue Jackets Hockey League, Newark Ice Hockey Association, or the Battery.

Tournaments and scrimmages will be at various rinks in Columbus and in other cities within an approximate three hour driving radius of Columbus.

COGH will provide guidance to help define a great season of play.

2026-27 8U

For the 2026-27 season, COGH is offering two 8U all-girls teams (number of teams depends on interest and tryout numbers).

AND

Wednesday, May 6, 7:20pm

Where: Chiller North (8144 Highfield Dr., Lewis Center)

Ages: 8U (2018-2020)
